Pashto Language Instructor - Virginia Beach, VA
Period of performance: July 6, xxxx until August 5, xxxx
The Language Instructor must meet the following requirements prior to instructing students on this contract. Target language proficiency:
2+/2+/2+ or Advanced-High or higher.
Proficiency will be demonstrated by combinations of a the following: telephonic Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) or 2-skill OPI from the DLIFLC, an interview certified by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), and the Defense Language Proficiency Test or other instruments.Proficiency in English: 2 on OPI.
Understanding of Interagency Roundtable Proficiency Levels and their relation to proficiency-based instruction.
Instructor will be familiar with the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and Defense Language Proficiency Tests (DLPT), and will be proficient with operating PC based computers, Windows Explorer, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Instructors will be capable of integrating learning technology seamlessly with lesson plans to enhance training delivery.
Qualifications:
Must be fluent in the Pashto language
Candidate must be able to create lesson plans
Produce detailed progress reports
Analyze students learning, and summarize day to day learning progress.
2 years of recent experience teaching a foreign language at the secondary level or higher (a minimum of 200 classroom hours) AND Bachelors degree in teaching, education, language, or a closely related field to be approved by Government.
OR
6 years of recent experience teaching a foreign language at the secondary level or higher (a minimum of 600 classroom hours).
